Testimonial – Polferries
Since year 2010 MERGI PFT catalyst has been in constant use on vessels in our fleet. The following effects have been on M/F “Wawel”, IMO: 7814462:
– Soot emission drop (in accordance to TUV By RgG 233) by 42% on main engines, heavy fuel.
– Soot emission drop (in accordance to TUV By RgG 233) by 33% on auxiliary engines, heavy fuel.
– Nitric oxides (NOx) emissjon drop by 10% on main engines, heavy fuel.
– Nitric oxides (NOx) emissjon drop by 13% on auxiliary engines, heavy fuel.
– Nitric oxides (NOx) emissjon drop by 38% on auxiliary engines, light fuel.
– Carbon monoxide (CO) emission drop by 13% on main engines, heavy fuel.
– Carbon monoxide (CO) emission drop by 13% on auxiliary engines, heavy fuel.
MERGI PFT effects on maintenance, as observed by Polferries crews:
– During piston ring change on one of the heavy fuel auxiliary engines, no soot or other residues were found on the ring, ring grooves or on the piston. This was contrary to pre-Mergi experience. The maintenance interval was several montsh, and heavy pollution was expected.
– At routine valve inspection on one of the main engines, no deposits or sediments were found on the valves and inlets, where a large a- mount of contamination was expected due to long period since last overhaul.
– Significantly extended lifecycle of injector nozzles was found. Lifetime extended from 8.000-9.000 working hours to 12.000-13.000 working hours.
Catalyst dosing was carried out in an automated manner, with a minimum participation of crews, limited to refilling the Mergi dosing tank when required.
MERGI PFT is now being used on all Polferries vessels.
